Objective
- Short and uniform breeding cycle.
- Protection against reproductive losses, including persistently infected calves.

Challenges
Diseases that cause abortion, or that result in weak or persistently infected calves. These include vibriosis, leptospirosis, IBR, BVD, BRSV, Somnus. Risk of sudden death caused by clostridial diseases like blackleg.

How do I choose which vaccine to give?
Your choice should depend on:
a. Your veterinarian’s recommendation
b. Your herd’s disease history and exposure

Pre-breeding vaccination program

What should I give? When should I give it? How much? Helps prevent:
Vib Shield Plus L5 2-4 weeks prior to breeding One 2-ml dose, IM Vibriosis and leptospirosis
- and -
Arsenal 4.1 30 days prior to start of breeding One 2-ml dose, sub-Q BVD Type 1 and 2, BRSV, IBR and PI3
- or -
Vira Shield 6+L5 HB First dose: 2-4 weeks prior to breeding
Booster with Vira Shield 5: 4-5 weeks later
5-ml initial dose, 5-ml booster, sub-Q Major viral diseases, including IBR, Type 1 and 2 BVD, BRSV, PI3 and five strains of leptospirosis, including L. hardjo-bovis
- or -

Vira Shield 6+L5 HB Somnus

First dose: 2-4 weeks prior to breeding
Booster with Vira Shield 5+Somnus: 4-5 weeks later
5-ml initial dose, 5-ml booster, IM Major viral diseases including IBR, BVD, BRSV, PI3, H. somnus and five strains of leptospirosis, including L. hardjo-bovis
- optional -
Clostri Shield 7 Vaccinate or booster prior to breeding 2 2-ml doses, 2-6 weeks apart (if first time vaccination) or revaccinate with 2-ml dose; revaccinate annually or as recommended by the verterinarian, sub-Q Clostridial diseases
