Swine Vaccine
Myco Shield helps prevent pneumonia
caused by Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae. It is a
purified
vaccine, which
means it uses only the essential antigens
for protection. Myco Shield was developed using the latest bio-technology
to provide safe, effective protection against Mycoplasma pneumonia.
In a study comparing vaccinated animals to unvaccinated
controls, pigs vaccinated with Myco Shield averaged 15.6 pounds
heavier at
market (155 days). In a challenge study, lung lesions were significantly
reduced in vaccinated pigs compared to unvaccinated controls.
Twenty pigs received two doses of Myco Shield, while 10 pigs served
as
controls.
All pigs were challenged with M. hyopneumoniae on four
occasions beginning three weeks after the second dose. Lung consolidation
scores in controls
averaged 10.9% compared to only 1.85% for vaccinates.
