Research & Development

At Novartis Animal Health, the focus of our research and development efforts is to ensure that our customers’ product needs are met, now and in the future. That philosophy drives our efforts to update current products and develop new ones, including:

• Developing additional antigens to address unmet product needs.
   
• Pursuing new product claims, including new routes of administration.
   
• Developing new combinations for maximum convenience and flexibility.
   
• Building custom vaccines that can provide both immediate and longer-term solutions for new and emerging diseases; custom vaccines create a platform from which to build new commercial products through our full vaccine development and approval process.

Research and development activities are fully integrated into our newly expanded production facility in Larchwood, Iowa, where all licensed vaccine production now takes place, as well as our state-of-the-art custom vaccine production facility in Bucyrus, Kansas. The Bucyrus facility expanded production capabilities in the summer of 2003, which has greatly enhanced our ability to quickly and efficiently produce custom vaccines for your operation.
